Robin sent this story about a tired weather forecaster who nearly caused mass hysteria with a single click.
A tired forecaster at the National Weather Service who had pulled three straight shifts because of the Christmas Day snowstorm clicked on the wrong icon on his computer screen Thursday and transmitted a high-alert warning to a few thousand people who live around the Vermont Yankee nuclear power station.

TIA fading away?
Likely a slow news week - but an interesting blurb from CNet on TIA.
As controversy grows over the Defense Department's shadowy Total Information Awareness (TIA) project, the project's virtual presence is steadily decreasing. If fully implemented, TIA would link databases from sources such as credit card companies, medical insurers, and motor vehicle databases for police convenience in hopes of snaring terrorists.
